Robert Keefe has a deep compassion for teaching and performing. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Fresno, California, Bob started playing guitar at age 14 and played his first professional gig on New Year's Eve at age 15.
He maintains an active studio of about 25 guitar students in the Lansing /Ithaca area and teaches all styles and levels of electric and acoustic guitar. Bob has been performing in jazz and rock bands for over five decades and is former student of jazz guitarist Jack Petersen.
Bob holds a PhD in Composition from the University of North Texas and has taught composition and/or guitar at UNT, Ithaca College, University of South Florida, and Cornell University. He has performed with notables such as Clark Terry, Phil Woods, Steve Morse, and Johnny Smith.
He has composed for orchestra, opera, chamber ensemble, jazz band, rock group, and has also arranged several work for choir. His compositions have been recorded on Mark Custom Records,
Irida Recordings, CDCM, and Innova.
